Howard's Hikers

The Howard’s Hikers Ministry is a Fellowship Ministry of the Circle of Care.

The Fellowship Ministries Mission Statement:

Arrange opportunities to encourage periodic fellowship with members
of the congregation who have similar interests or are in similar phases of life.

The interesting thing about the Howard’s Hikers ministry is that there isn’t a Howard among them! Howard’s Hikers is named after Howard Priestly who served at West Olive until he passed away several years ago. Howard loved hiking and taking pictures of the great Arizona landscapes. A very informal group meets at the church building once a month on a Saturday from September through May to hike one of the many splendid trails throughout the Valley of the Sun and up in the Arizona mountains surrounding the valley. Hikes are generally on easy to moderate trails that are 1 to 4 miles long. If you like hiking, consider joining Howard’s Hikers for a day filled with hiking, laughter, and fun fellowship!

Our next hike will be February 7
Hieroglyphics Trail, Superstition Mountains

This 1.5 mile hike takes you along a gently climbing path across a cactus-covered plain
close to a rocky dry wash, ending at some seasonal pools, beside which are
many ancient petroglyphs.
